"As you set out on the way to Ithaca
hope that the road is a long one,
filled with adventures, with experiences.
The Laestrygonians and the Cyclopes,
Poseidon in his anger: do not fear them,
you’ll never come across them as long as your mind stays aloft,
and a choice emotion touches your body and spirit.
The Laestrygonians and the Cyclopes,
savage Poseidon; you’ll not encounter them
unless you carry them within your soul,
unless your soul sets them up before you.
Hope that the road is a long one.
Many may the summer mornings be
when—with what pleasure, with what joy—
you first put in to harbours new to your eyes. [...]"
Always keep Ithaca in your mind;
to reach her is your destiny."
Ithaca - Constantine P. Cavafy
It is with mixed feelings that I leave my home harbour to embark on a new adventure. Maybe my last big adventure -or maybe not. This is a dream I dreamt long ago but never dared to fulfil as I was always busy with something else. But the moment has come. When we spend too much time in auto-pilot mode, we become very good at "our thing", but we also lose perspective. It's time to gain some.
I leave with mixed feelings and many doubts and questions inside my head. I want to thank all my friends, family and colleagues for their support, advice and good wishes. You know who you are, and I'm thinking of you.
