I woke up early in the morning to meet Juanjo at the airport, from where we took a bus to the border. After a four-hour ride we arrived at Aryan Prathet, where we went through the Thai passport control, got our Cambodian visas and went through immigration. The process is widely documented in travel guides as a cumbersome gym-khana prone to all types of scams. Surprisingly, and against all my expectations, all went quite smoothly -lucky us!

On the road again, this time to Battambang |
After a two-hour taxi ride we arrived in Battambang, the second biggest city in Cambodia. The car dropped us at the Coconut Water Foundation office, where we were greeted by the cheerful staff -who by the way speak English very well. We also had our first Khmer meal at the restaurant of the NGO.
Eva, the project manager, brought us to what will be our home sweet home for the next month. Judge by yourselves. Especially remarkable is the local shower -pretty much a hose stuck to the wall. The toilet roll is my own addition, since you are actually supposed to wash your rear (with a second hose) instead of wiping it off and then, well, leave it to dry.
